Shanna Dewsnup has been in the VW scene since she was born. She is an Audiologist by day and enjoys restoring vintage Volkswagens and traveling outside of work.
Welcome to my page!! I’m a dedicated Audiologist by day and a passionate VW enthusiast at heart. Immersed in the automotive world from a young age, my connection to vintage Volkswagens runs deep. My parents (Rick and Anne Mortensen) were the promotors of the renowned Phoenix Bug-O-Rama, shaping my early love for classic cars. As an unconventional teenage girl, I delved into auto-body and repair classes during high school, which helped me to understand more about repairing old cars.
Life became more challenging when my oldest son was diagnosed with severe hearing loss, which propelled me into the world of Audiology while raising my two boys as a single mother. Between juggling studies and being a full-time parent, I found solace in restoring my '65 VW Beetle (pictured below) every week on my only day off, and while my kids were in school. This was a nice escape from the demands of my doctorate program.
Faced with my son's Usher Syndrome diagnosis, I unfortunately had to make the tough decision to sell my beloved Beetle in order to create lasting memories with him before his vision loss progressed. Returning to Arizona in 2013 for family support, I met my amazing husband Kevin, who was also a car enthusiast and who had to get on board with my crazy VW obsession (which he did). Together, we have accomplished some pretty amazing things including starting a successful business and growing our VW collection to what it is today. We have a blended family with 5 (now adult) children and one incredibly adorable grandchild. We also have two cute Goldendoodles named “Dubs” and “Deuce”.
